Alteration and Repair of Museum Buildings
The American Museum, open since 1961, identified the need to improve facilities to enhance their visitors’ experience and the stable block and coach house underwent a full repair and alteration programme to provide a modern lecture and music room and separate education centre.
Original features were maintained and sympathetically overhauled to restore the buildings design whilst internally creating a functional contemporary space. Finishes included a new copper roof with steel Vierendeel truss, green roof areas and new acoustic ceilings and lighting systems both internally and externally to enhance the visual impact of the Museum. The completed contract, concluded to an excellent standard, delighted staff and visitors and has enabled the Museum to fulfil their developmental brief.
