RESTORATION AND CONSERVATION
MANOR HOUSE, PEWSEY
Restoration and Conservation of Historic Manor
The roof and parts of the main structure of this Grade I Listed Manor House were in a poor state of near collapse having been severely compromised by centuries of alteration, maintenance and inappropriate repair and we were tasked with the extensive conservation and restoration of the original features under the guidance of English Heritage so to return the property to its former glory whilst meeting our client’s modern day need of a functional family home.
Extensive restructuring of the oak framed roof and second floor accommodation was necessary in order to save the dwelling retaining as much as practical of the existing materials. It soon became apparent that complete reconstruction from ground floor level up was necessary to repair the structure on to which the roof and second floor relied for its support, which was successfully undertaken by our highly skilled site team. Internally the fabric of the building was restored using traditional/salvaged materials and bespoke joinery all completed to a superior finish whilst also upgrading the property’s services to form a modern, energy efficient home in keeping with the character of the original Manor House.
